Defending America

What Americans Must Know

 Click here for further policy memorandums

  • Biden is taking the failed logic of “defund the police” to our military. His budgets would cut our military when the threats from abroad are greater than ever before.
  • · We need to make sure our military has the equipment, training, and manpower they need to win ANY battle they fight. Biden’s budgets would make our military dangerously weak.
  • · Biden only decreased funding for only two agencies: the Department of Defense and the Department of Homeland Security. That tells you everything about his priorities.
  • We need to grow our military and fund it properly if we want to defeat the growing threats to our nation from Communist China, Putin’s Russia, and radical Islamic terrorism.

The Facts About U.S. Defense Spending:

  • Providing for the common defense is the most important and one of the few explicit responsibilities of the federal government under the Constitution.
  • National defense has been declining as a share of federal spending for the last 30 years, falling from 28.1% in 1987 to 15.2% in 2019.
  • The Federal Government currently spends 3.1% of total GDP on our military: meaning that only 3.1% of all U.S. economic output goes to protecting our families, and ensuring the world is a safe and stable place for Americans to do business with our likeminded friends.

The chart below shows how military expenditures have persistently decreased as a percentage of GDP over the last 75 years and ow spending increased compare across agency.

The U.S. military is currently responsible for addressing the most complex and serious threat in the history of our nation: Communist China.

  • For the first time the United States is confronting a great power rival with an economy equal to or great than its own. During the Cold War, the economy of the Soviet Union was roughly just 40% of the United States.

While our men and women in uniform prepare for the Chinese threat, they MUST ALSO:

  • Defend against Russian aggression, especially in light of the unprovoked invasion of Ukraine;
  • Combat terrorist groups in the Middle East, who remain poised to target Americans across the globe and are trying to kill on U.S. soil;
  • Rebuild a depleted Navy that currently has significantly fewer ships than China, AND;
  • Defend against a nuclear-armed North Korea and an nuclear-aspiring Iran. President Biden’s Defense Budget Ties our Soldiers Hands

President Biden’s budget request for fiscal year 2022 would increase spending for all non-military spending by 16%, but the budget isn’t even enough to match the rising levels of inflation.

  • Biden’s proposal to pay our soldiers and maintain our military was so low even that his Democratic counterparts in Congress offered more.
  • Biden and the Democrats in Congress had no problem printing $4 trillion for wasteful spending during COVID-19, leading to today’s astronomically high inflation of 8% that weakened the American dollar in the world.
  • Even worse, Biden refused to match our military funding to the inflation level, leaving soldiers with less money and our nation vulnerable to the ever-growing threats from our enemies abroad.
