President Trump is Ending Iran’s War on America

This morning, President Trump announced U.S. combat operations in Iran to protect America from Iran’s Islamic Regime.  One of the most daring military campaigns in modern history, Operation Epic Fury sends a clear message: the United States will not tolerate nuclear blackmail, missile threats, and terrorist attacks against the American people and their allies.

America Isn’t Starting War With Iran – We’re Ending Iran’s War on Us

  • The Islamic Regime has been at war with America since 1979.  For nearly half a century, it has waged a relentless campaign of bloodshed and mass murder across every corner of the Middle East.  It has attacked the U.S. at every turn, targeting our citizens, our troops, and our allies – all while targeting Jews around the world.
  • The media wants to pretend President Trump is starting a war with Iran, but that couldn’t be further from the truth.  Iran started this conflict when it came to power 47 years ago – and now America’s 47th president is bringing it to an end.
  • There are no simple answers on what lies ahead, but we know that failure to act means more of the same from Iran’s regime.  President Trump is giving Iran and the entire Middle East the opportunity for a prosperous future for the first time in decades.

Iran’s Regime is a Clear and Present Danger to America

  • This regime is still trying to get a nuclear weapon.  The Trump Administration obliterated Iran’s program last June in Operation Midnight Hammer, but the regime still hasn’t given up its nuclear ambitions and has been attempting to reconstitute its program as well as expand its ballistic missile arsenal.  There is no reason to doubt they would use these weapons to target Americans, our Middle East bases, and our allies.
  • This regime has slaughtered hundreds of Americans.  In 1983, Iran’s proxies killed 241 of our men and women in uniform in Beirut.  In 2000, it abetted the bombing of the USS Cole in Yemen–the deadliest attack against a U.S. naval vessel in decades–which killed 17 sailors and injured 37.  The regime has killed and maimed hundreds of our service members in Iraq and in every corner of the Middle East.  It put bounties on U.S. officials and even tried to assassinate President Trump.
  • This regime has taken Americans hostage for decades.  In 1979–the very year it came to power–Iran’s regime took 66 Americans hostage at our embassy in Tehran, holding dozens of them for 444 days.  That behavior has only continued, as we saw when its proxy Hamas held a dozen Americans hostage in Gaza after October 7.
  • This regime has targeted America’s ships and commerce. The regime and its proxies have relentlessly harassed and attacked U.S. naval and commercial vessels in international shipping lanes, including the Red Sea.  Those attacks have required extensive warship deployments, hundreds of multi-million dollar missiles, and placed an economic burden on the order of tens of billions on the American people.

President Trump Gave Iran Every Opportunity to Pick Peace

  • For over a year, the United States has tried to negotiate a diplomatic solution with Iran.  President Trump dispatched Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and other members of his team to conduct countless rounds of talks, months of painstaking negotiation, and sincerely offer Tehran a path to prosperity.
  • His only demand?  For Iran to behave like a normal country by giving up its nuclear ambitions, relinquishing its missiles, and renouncing terrorism.  The regime didn’t just ignore his warnings: it escalated its domestic repression, slaughtering tens of thousands of innocent protesters.
  • The Islamic Regime proved again and again it was not interested in peace.  It was given every chance to commit to a different path but chose Islamic zealotry instead.  President Trump warned Supreme Leader Khamenei that the regime would cease threatening its neighbors and the world either the easy way or the hard way.
  • The Ayatollah only has himself to blame for his death and the regime’s destruction.  He was a radical cleric who led a massive terror network for decades–and responsibility for every death caused by Iran and its proxies falls squarely at his feet.

The Alarmists Are Wrong – Again

  • Already, some social media influencers and their left-wing allies are insisting President Trump’s operation will be a disaster.  They say striking Iran will entangle America in another “endless war” and we are better off trying to appease the regime instead of confronting it.  Even some right-wing MAGA critics have called President Trump’s decision “disgusting” and “evil.”  These are the same people who predicted Operation Midnight Hammer would spark World War Three, lead to mass American casualties, and $30/gallon gasoline prices.
  • We should never be cavalier about the risks of deploying our military into harm’s way.  President Trump knows that war is a terrible thing, and this operation could result in American casualties.  But he also understands the greater risk is in letting Iran’s terrorist regime grow stronger and do more damage.
  • In most conflicts, it’s hard to know the consequences of inaction.  But here, we know what would happen if we didn’t strike Iran because we’ve tried it: The regime would keep pursuing a nuclear weapon, conducting terrorism, and killing Americans.  We shouldn’t wait for Iran’s genocidal leaders to be a heartbeat away from a nuclear weapon or orchestrate another mass terror attack.
  • Progressives are falsely claiming this operation is “illegal” and lacks congressional authorization.  But the 2001 AUMF authorizes force against any nation, organization, or person that planned the 9/11 attacks “or harbored such organizations or persons,” and Iran is an al-Qaeda headquarters.  In 2015, the regime allowed al-Qaeda to establish an operational headquarters in Iran, providing it safe haven and logistical support.

Unleashing a Golden Age for the Middle East

  • America’s strikes could yield a 21st Century Berlin Wall moment.  While it’s impossible to know how events will unfold, the Iranian people could soon seize control of their government and achieve liberation.  Millions may be freed from theocratic oppression, just as Reagan helped liberate millions behind the Iron Curtain.
  • This decision could unlock a wave of peace and prosperity across the Middle East.  If the regime collapses, Iran’s terror proxies will flail and Saudi Arabia and other Arab nations could join the Abraham Accords.  By decisively defeating the preeminent force for terrorism in the Middle East, President Trump’s actions could help a war-torn region turn the page from its bloody history and achieve an era of prosperity.
  • Just as Obama and Biden followed in Jimmy Carter’s footsteps with weak Iran policies, President Trump is carrying Ronald Reagan’s legacy forward with his Peace Through Strength policies in Iran.  He is showing the fortitude his liberal predecessors lacked.

The Bottom Line: President Trump has done the United States, the Iranian people, and the world an incredible service by striking Iran’s regime.  This decision will make America safer, stronger, and more prosperous.
